In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a decent start with their openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Jonny Bairstow, putting up a 50-run partnership for the first wicket. However, Saha departed after scoring 21 runs, followed by Bairstow, who was dismissed for a well-made 35 off 24 balls.
The Capitals’ bowling unit did well to put the brakes on the Sunrisers’ scoring rate, with Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje picking up two wickets each. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to keep up with the required run rate, thanks to the contributions of Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad.
However, the Capitals’ bowlers held their nerve in the death overs, not allowing Sunrisers Hyderabad to score freely. With 12 runs required off the final over, Avesh Khan held his nerve and picked up two wickets to seal a thrilling win for the Capitals.
It was an excellent all-round performance by the Delhi Capitals, with Washington Sundar’s outstanding bowling being the standout feature of the match. Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their batting effort, as they could not capitalize on their good start.
