Around a year after he allegedly sexually harassed a girl, a youth was allegedly stabbed to death by her father in Gondal town in the early hours of Sunday. Hours later, police booked the father of the girl and arrested him.
According to an FIR launched at Gondal town police station, Vijay Batala, was allegedly stabbed by a man at around 2 am on Sunday. The incident took place near Char Dukan in Gondal town when Batala was riding pillion on a bike driven by his friend Deep Malaviya to reach his home.
According to the FIR, the girl’s father, who is an autorickshaw driver, called out Batala’s name and the two friends stopped. The auto-rickshaw driver then allegedly stabbed Batala in the chest and then fled the spot, abandoning his rickshaw.
An injured Batala, who used to drive a goods carriage, was rushed to a private hospital and subsequently to a government hospital. But he was declared dead on arrival. Based on a complaint filed by Batala’s father, police booked the auto-rickshaw driver for murder and arrested him hours later.
Police said the autorickshaw driver had filed a complaint against Batala and Batala’s friends Aakash, Govind, Hito and others around a year ago for allegedly sexually harassing his daughter.
After his arrest, during primary questioning, the autorickshaw driver told police he used to have frequent arguments with Batala. However, in his complaint filed on Sunday, Batala’s father claimed the autorickshaw driver had filed a false complaint of sexual harassment against his son and others.
