Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has achieved a remarkable milestone as its employees worldwide dedicated a staggering 2.2 million hours of their time to volunteer in FY23 through the company’s volunteering program, known as HOPE (Hours of Purpose by Employees). This accomplishment has propelled TCS to be recognized as the world’s top company for volunteers, with the highest number of recorded volunteer hours, according to the company.

Under the HOPE initiative, TCS introduced the #millionhoursofpurpose campaign, urging its employees to collectively contribute 1 million volunteer hours every quarter. Embracing the challenge with enthusiasm, TCS employees surpassed expectations by delivering over 2 million hours in the fourth quarter alone, setting a new record for the company.

The range of projects undertaken by TCSers encompassed diverse causes that resonated with their passion and sense of purpose. These initiatives spanned areas such as climate action, including tree plantation, energy conservation, biodiversity protection, and cleanup drives. Health promotion activities included mental health awareness campaigns, blood donation drives, and road safety initiatives. TCS employees also made a significant impact in poverty alleviation through donations of food, clothes, books, and toys. Additionally, skill-based volunteering initiatives focused on adult literacy, skilling, and mentoring for youth employment. The cumulative effect of these endeavors positively influenced the lives of approximately 1.25 million people worldwide.

Balaji Ganapathy, Chief Social Responsibility Officer at TCS, shed light on the genesis of the HOPE program and shared inspiring stories of its success.
