On February 26, 2023, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, addressed the ‘Kol Janjati Mahakumbh’ in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The event was organized on the occasion of Shabri Mata Janm Jayanti, and saw the participation of many dignitaries including the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

On February 26, 2023, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, addressed the ‘Kol Janjati Mahakumbh’ in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The event was organized on the occasion of Shabri Mata Janm Jayanti, and saw the participation of many dignitaries including the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing the gathering informed that the foundation stone of 70 development works worth Rs 507 crore and many other works of Rs 26 crore were inaugurated under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The Union Home minister noted that Antyodaya means to pave the way to live with dignity for the poor of the society.

He noted that after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, his government is the government of Tribals, Dalits, and backward and poor people. Fulfilling every promise, PM Modi has worked to implement poor welfare schemes at the grassroots level. Amit Shah also informed that the Kol community significantly contributed to the freedom movement.


The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is establishing tribal freedom fighters’ museums across the country for 200 crores, the bravery of 1831’s Kol rebel is engraved in all the museums. Whether it is the bravery of Gond Maharani Durgavati, the sacrifice of Rani Kamalapati, or freedom Fighters Buddha Bhagat and Jova Bhagat, all of them have been revered and commemorated by the government of Madhya Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.


The union home minister and Minister of Cooperation informed that during the previous government, Rs 24,000 crore were given to the Tribal community in the budget, which was increased to around Rs. 90,000 crores by PM Modi.

The ‘Kol Janjati Mahakumbh’ is a gathering of the Kol tribal community, who are mainly found in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. The community is known for its unique culture and traditions, and the Mahakumbh is a platform for them to come together and celebrate their heritage.

During his address, Amit Shah praised the Kol community for their contribution to the development of the country. He said that the government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society, including the tribal communities, and that various schemes have been launched to uplift them.

He also highlighted the importance of preserving tribal languages and culture, and emphasized the need for more research and documentation in this area. He said that the government is working towards creating more opportunities for the tribal youth, and that initiatives like the Tribal Affairs Ministry and the Van Dhan Yojana are aimed at empowering them.

Amit Shah also offered prayers at the Maa Sharda Shaktipeeth, which is an important pilgrimage site for the Kol community. The Shaktipeeth is dedicated to the goddess Sharda, who is believed to have taken birth in the region. The Home Minister’s visit to the site is seen as a gesture of respect towards the community and its beliefs.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, also addressed the gathering and lauded the Kol community for their contributions to the state’s culture and economy. He said that the government is committed to the development of the tribal areas and that various initiatives have been taken in this direction.

The ‘Kol Janjati Mahakumbh’ is an important event for the Kol community, and the presence of dignitaries like Amit Shah and Shivraj Singh Chauhan is a testament to the government’s commitment towards the welfare of the tribal communities. The event also highlights the need to preserve and celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage, especially that of its tribal communities.
